Bristol Ability Sports Club

The multi-sports club at St Paul's Community Sports Academy will be changing to Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm from 10th January to enable more disabled children and siblings to access club activities. 

Radio Bristol Interview

Radio Bristol will be interviewing Bristol Ability Sports Club leaders Jamie Shore and Kate Cooke on Wednesday 5th November at St Paul's Community Sports Academy.

Commonwealth FM Radio Interview

Ability Sports Association has an hour long slot with Sherry Eugene on Commonwealth FM 87.7 FM between 2 - 3 pm. on Friday 10th October.
 
Jamie Anstee, Bristol City Ability FC Player Coach , Jamie Shore (ex Bristol Rovers, Norwich City, England Under 16 player) of Jamie Shore Soccer Schools, now working in partnership with Ability Sports Association and myself will be on the show.

Street Soccer

ASA is working in partnership with Jamie Shore Soccer Schools and Youth Centres to establish Street Soccer across Bristol and Bath.

  SUDS Awareness Day

ASA is participating in South Glos. Union of Disability Sports (SUDS) Awareness Day on Friday 21st November at Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre.  

ASA offers SAQ for children at risk across West of England. 

In partnership with Jamie Shore Soccer Schools, ASA is offering SAQ (Speed Agility and Quickness) sessions for children at risk at various venues across West of England over the summer holidays.

ASA has partnered with Jamie Shore, ex England Youth International, Norwich City and Bristol Rovers player to deliver  on a socially inclusive soccer and SAQ sessions. For the first time mainstream disadvantaged and disabled soccer will be delivered inclusively at summer events across the West of England.

5-a-side Football Tournament

ASA organised  a 5-a-side Football Tournament for Day Centres across West of England on 1st July 03 at Pro Brislington.

Unum Provident Sportsmatch Sponsorship

ASA have secured Unum Provident Sportsmatch sponsorship for delivery of mulitpsorts coaching in Bristol.

Bath City Ability Sports Club and Weston Ability Sports Club secure funding.

Both clubs have secured funding from Awards For All, Mencap Challenge Fund and Greater Bristol Foundation North Somerset Fund. 

Bath City is well under way with over 30 disabled adults attending sessions at Bath Spa University every Tuesday. The Weston club plans to start sessions on Sundays at Wyvern Sports Centre, Weston-Super-Mare.

ASA supporting BUDS

A new forum Bristol Union of Disability Sports has been established. ASA is supported BUDS to host a Disability Sports Awareness Day on June 16th  at St Paul's Community Sports Academy. Over 200 disabled people took part and 40 volunteers from UnumProvident, Filton and City of Bristol College.  

ASA supporting SGDSF 2nd Awareness Day

South Glos. Disability Sports Forum will be hosting it's second Disability Sports Awareness Day on 21st November at Yate Leisure Centre. ASA will be supporting the event following the success of the first event which attracted over 500 people to try out different sports. 

ASA hosts Ability Football Festival

Ability Sports Association will host an Ability Football / Athletics festival as part of South Gloucestershire Youth Festival of Sport on 22nd May and 14th June at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex. 

Special Need Schools and Referral Units have been invited from across Gloucestershire to take part. 

FA Community Shield Donation

Ability Sports Association will be presented with £4000 cheque from the FA Community Shield for Forest Green Rovers Ability FC coaching programme at The Lawn, FGR, Nailsworth during the Conference League match v Nuneaton Borough.

Leeds & Holbeck Building Society Charitable Foundation donate funds for coaching equipment.  

Leeds & Holbeck BS Charitable Foundation have funded football coaching equipment for disabled children and adults in Bristol. 

Nationwide Foundation fund Volunteer Coordinator

Ability Sports Association has secured 3 years funding for a Volunteer Coordinator to help recruit and supervise more volunteers for the charity. Our thanks go to Nationwide Foundation for funding this important post.

FGR AFC secure Awards For All and Mencap Challenge Fund

Forest Green Rovers Ability FC have secured funding of £3000 from Awards For All and £1500 from Mencap Challenge Fund for thier coaching programme at Stratford Leisure Centre, Stroud.

Bristol City Ability FC players selected for England Mencap

Two Bristol City players were selected for England Mencap. David Plumbley and Paul Wright  will participate in a European 11-a-side tournament in Geneva Switzerland in June. Teams  from over twelve European countries will take part in this yearly event.

Oaklands Park ASC Funding 

Oaklands Park ASC has secured funding from Mencap Challenge Fund, South Glos NHS, South Glos Festival of Sports and Awards For All. These will enable the club to offer school curricular, after school and adult sessions in a variety of sports. 

Bristol City Ability FC win Sport England VIP National Award

BCAFC have won the Sport England Volunteer Investment Programme National Club Award 2002 winning a total prize of £4000. Presentation was made at the Walkabout, Temple in London on 10th December 02.
